Recap of the Follow Traffic Rules Action Day

"Manila traffic is something we have to live with but it doesn't mean we can't do anything about it."

Manila traffic is arguably one of the worst in the world. An Australian tourist, who is into extreme sports, even once remarked that bungee jumping, skydiving and white river rafting are safer than driving in Manila

We've all heard the famous trapik.com radio commercial quoted above. So last November, One Tama decided to act in order to do something about Manila traffic through its "Follow Traffic Rules Action Day." We had stickers printed and distributed with four different messages:

1. I don’t block intersections.

2. I follow traffic lights.

3. I use my signal lights.

4. I don’t text while driving.

One Tama went to Shell Connecticut and Petron Katipunan last November 21, 2009. Both stations were generous enough to allow us to approach motorists in their station, explain One Tama and the stickers, and either given them out and directly place it on their vehicle.

This campaign was really about pledging to be a One Tama driver because follow traffic rules results to better road predictabilty and resposible driver discretion, which  help in easing traffic. Even though you would stick only on sticker on your car, to be credible you have to obey all traffic rules as well (Check a related One Tama blog entry called "Why We Must Follow Traffic Rules"). What was even more challenging was picking a sticker you were more prone not to do. The stickers are a great way to always keep yourself in check. In essence, that's what One Tama is all about - always doing one right thing after another and trusting that that one thing will resonate exponentially toward eventually making yourself and this country better.
